Piano

Ikeobasi Ezike is a profoundly passionate pianist who began his studies at age 6. Initially placed into piano lessons by his mother, he developed a strong passion for classical music. He continued to advance in his piano playing with the inspiration of old CDs kept in his house that he had later found and kept in his room. He would listen to these CDs almost every night, and the impression was so strong that he thoroughly convinced himself that he no longer wanted to listen to music; instead, he wanted to recreate what he heard on the piano. He remembers the night that he accomplished what would be a complete turning point in his pianistic life. That night, he tried to play Mozart's famous Turkish March.

He had such a drive in him that time and effort was no longer a concern. He simply constantly imagined himself playing it while simultaneously learning the notes, and eventually, he got through the whole piece. After this moment, he developed the confidence to rapidly advance his piano ability and technical prowess. He gave many performances throughout his middle school years. He later studied piano performance at the High School of the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), located in downtown Houston. There, he won several awards, including the HMTA piano ensemble competition. With regards to his teaching, He first started as an assistant piano teacher for high school students and then obtained experience teaching children during his summer years. Currently, Ikeobasi studies piano performance at Baylor University and continues to excel in his performance of classical repertoire, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in piano performance. He excels in solo performance, ensemble playing, and church music. He was a notable accompanist for the Suzuki Academy of Waco, where he accompanied a group of string players. He also has experience with choral music, playing for church services.

Ikeobasi believes that it is his role to spread his joy and love for the piano to people, both young and old. He is enthusiastic about using his creativity to teach piano in the quickest and most effective ways. There is an instance when, one summer, Ikeobasi taught just one lesson to an older student who was actually a singer. The lesson was so nicely conceived that the one lesson alone was enough to give him all he needed for that summer. Ikeobasi is a refined pianistic technique champion and uses the mind's imagination and memory to develop artistic proficiency. By having Ikeobasi as a teacher, expect to learn quickly and efficiently under a kind, patient, and enthusiastic musician.
