Aerin Gray is a highly skilled and versatile musician with a broad range of expertise across different areas of music. As an active composer, arranger, percussionist, vocalist, and educator, Aerin is well-known in the greater Houston area and has significantly contributed to pageantry arts, including marching band, winter percussion, and winter color guard programs. He has worked with various programs across the country, creating and producing innovative compositions for these ensembles.
Aerin holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in music composition and theory from Sam Houston State University, where he studied under Drs. Kyle Kindred and Brian Herrington. His talent in composition was recognized when he received the prestigious Fisher Tull Student Composition Award in 2019 for his percussion trio Shakr Hmn.
In addition to his work in pageantry arts, Aerin has an impressive background in music recording. He has contributed drum sets, percussion, and vocals to various rock and country albums. He has worked with notable artists of various genres incuding Joe Burlison's Uptown Jazz Christmas album in 2017.
Aerin is also passionate about social issues, particularly equity and equality. As an advocate for these causes, he is actively involved in the Safe Zone team at Lone Star-Montgomery. He serves as a Safe Zone training facilitator, helping foster safe and inclusive environments, especially in educational settings.
