Ellen Perkins is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and her teaching certificate for K-12 General, Instrumental, and Vocal Music.

Ellen first began her life in music at 5 years old, when she began playing the violin. She went on to learn to sing and play the piano, clarinet, and guitar.  She was consistently involved in choirs, bands, and orchestras throughout her public school and college years. In high school, Ellen was chosen out of over 300,000 students across the country to participate as a vocalist in the NAfME All-National Choir Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, where she performed at the Grand Ole Opry House. In college, Ellen was a voice major while also playing clarinet in band and violin in orchestra. She also served as music director in various musical theatre productions, playing piano for all rehearsals and working one-on-one with actors to coach them on their vocal technique and character work.

Ellen enjoys teaching students of all ages. She first taught at an inner city school in Pittsburgh, PA, playing and teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, and percussion to middle school students. She has also taught high school choir and coached those students in their musical productions. Ellen currently teaches elementary general music at a public school in Spring, TX.
