Javier Perez Rey is a distinguished classical guitarist, educator, and performer with over three decades of experience in artistic education. He has taught Classical Guitar, Ensemble Practice, and guitar teaching methodology at all levels of creative education in Cuba, profoundly shaping the development of aspiring musicians. A graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance in 1999, Javier's career has been defined by his dedication to advancing the classical guitar as a teacher and performer.
As a founding member of the renowned Savarez Guitar Duo, Javier has achieved an extensive international career, performing in concerts and leading masterclasses across Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay. His work as an instrumentalist extends beyond the duo, as he has also served as musical director and performer with esteemed ensembles such as the Holguín Guitar Orchestra, Norberto. His contributions to the field of classical guitar have earned him wide recognition and respect within the global music community.
Javier has also played a pivotal role as a jury member in several prestigious guitar competitions, including the Isaac Nicola National Guitar Competition in Cuba, the Costa Rica International Guitar Competition and Festival, and the International Guitar Competition and Festival in the Dominican Republic.
