Colin Hurtt began playing piano in 2005, drawn to the instrument as a means of personal and creative expression. Since then, music has remained a central part of his life. During his school years, Colin focused primarily on piano while also participating in voice and percussion through various ensembles and performances.
In 2020, Colin began teaching piano professionally. Since then, he has worked with students of all ages and levels, helping them build confidence, creativity, and independence at the keyboard.
He has attended the University of Houston-Downtown, pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems. While his academic focus has not been in music, Colin continues to perform and teach regularly. His performance background includes classical recitals, jazz gigs, and contemporary worship settings, strongly emphasizing versatility and musical expression.
Teaching is where Colin finds the most fulfillment. His goal is to equip students with the tools to explore and enjoy music on their own. His lessons combine structured book learning, ear training, and improvisation, tailored to each student's needs and learning style. He emphasizes technical foundations and musical creativity, aiming to foster curiosity, confidence, and lifelong enjoyment of music.
