Justin Riberio grew up surrounded by the sounds of Rock and Roll, metal, grunge, and pop. At 13, driven by a fascination with the guitar-driven energy of bands like Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, and Metallica, he began teaching himself guitar. His interest in music deepened over time, leading him to explore the classical roots of his favorite genres. This journey introduced him to the works of great composers such as Paganini, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Albéniz, and Bach, whose influence reshaped his understanding of music and performance.
Justin pursued formal training in classical guitar at Oberlin Conservatory, where he refined his technique and musicality under the guidance of skilled mentors. He continued his studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, earning a master’s degree and expanding his knowledge of interpretation, theory, and pedagogy. Though classically trained, his musical background remains eclectic, allowing him to bridge genres and styles with ease, always drawing from a rich and varied foundation.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Justin is a teacher deeply committed to nurturing musical curiosity. His approach centers on exploration, thoughtful investigation, and healthy biomechanics. He encourages students to engage with the music they love while developing a strong theoretical and technical base. Though classical guitar is his specialty, he’s equally passionate about supporting creative expression through improvisation, songwriting, and vocal work, aiming to help each student find their own voice in music.
