Ted Allison is an accomplished pianist and educator with a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Piano Performance from the University of Alaska and a Master's and Ph.D. in Piano Performance from the University of Arizona. Having studied with renowned pianists such as John-Paul Billaud, Steve DeGroote, and John Perry, Ted has accumulated over 60,000 hours of piano playing. His career spans various performances, including solo recitals, orchestral collaborations, and chamber music, and serving as an accompanist for the Portland Opera. He has also played over 20,000 church services throughout his career and recently learned Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to his craft.
Ted has been teaching for his entire adult life, successfully working with thousands of students of all ages and skill levels. His students include those pursuing professional careers. One of Ted's former students is working toward a Master of Music at Yale University. Ted's teaching philosophy is holistic, focusing on technical development and ensuring deep satisfaction and emotional connection to music. He holds two major recitals each year and has several students involved in theater productions at Multnomah Village. His lifelong dedication to piano and extensive performance and teaching experience make him a uniquely inspiring figure in music education.
